Flags is located in Kitty Hawk, NC where 100 YEARS OF FLIGHT will
be celebrated in 2003 hence our motto “ First in Flight, First
in Flags”. We are also located on an isthmus, which used to be an
island before the closing of Caffey’s Inlet in Duck, NC. Hence our
name Islander Flags of Kitty Hawk, Inc. Yes, we’re _ mile from
the Atlantic.
In 1988, sisters from Richmond then the “decorative flag capital”
came to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where the general construction
scenery was gray and tan. And what was missing? Color and --movement.
When flags were introduced to area businesses, the colorful movement
created huge increases in revenues at restaurants, watersports facilities,
real estate offices, and shopping centers, to name a few.
Are we experts yet? That may never happen, but we continually strive
to promote this exciting industry, and service customers with a
very knowledgeable staff. As members of NIFDA, the National Independent
Flag Dealers’ Association, and IFAI, the Industrial Fabrics Association
International, we are acquainted with flag dealers across the US
and Canada as well as major suppliers to and fabricators for the
flag industry.
We are so excited to have started a business almost on a whim
and seen tremendous growth and development of a wonderfully customer-oriented
and creative company.
Our key employees were skilled and educated in three areas at the
outset environmental design, art, and retail management. Little
did we realize at the beginning that these three areas of expertise
were perfect for such a unique business opportunity. We became educated
in graphic arts related to flag design, flag etiquette, techniques
for custom flag production, uses of various substrates for outdoor
and indoor projects, installation of flagpoles, and the education
continues daily as src="/images techniques and ideas arise.
We now design and construct flags for homes, beach cottages, boats,
and weddings as well as logo flag products for nationally known
companies and custom flags for government and organizational use.
And, this includes the flagpoles they fly from in all varieties.
Our website is a small presentation of the products we choose to
sell in our store. The Islander Flags section contains our own copyrighted
decorative flag designs. We strongly support American-made products
and only sell top quality U.S., state, foreign and historical flags.
Please do visit us in Kitty Hawk if you are vacationing on the Outer
Banks. What do our customers say? “What an interesting store!” and
“This must be a fun place to work!” or “I’ve never seen so many
flags before!” We want to hear your comments, your ideas, and even
your complaints. We can’t solve every problem, but we try to solve
as many as we can.
