Fort Moultrie - Islander Flags of Kitty Hawk, Inc.

Fort Moultrie

Designed in 1775 by Col. Wm. Moultrie to use in preparation of war with Britain in defense of Sullivan's Island, SC.  The crescent on the flag is believed to be a gorget (neck armor) and is the basis of the state flag of South Carolina.
